PROjEN, the award winning Project Management Company based at Northwich, Cheshire, has now raised £5,888 for local charity “The Joshua Tree” since an evening charity event kick-started the company’s fund raising activities at the end of April.
The charitable evening took place on the 21st April 2007 at the Winnington Sports and Recreational Centre and was headlined by Local band “Front Room” containing PROjEN new business development manager, Shane Pugh on drums and saxophone.
Money was raised on the night from ticket sales, cash donations and a draw which contained a number of superb prizes including a holiday in Europe, free car hire and a day at a top health spa and was all supported by local businesses, many of which donated the array of fantastic prizes. The charity fund was also boosted by a single donation of £1,000 made by PROjEN which was presented to The Joshua Tree on the evening. Even though the main event was held at the end of April, donations are still being gathered by PROjEN which has seen the total amount raised head towards the £6,000 mark.
The Joshua Tree was registered as a charity in May 2006, and was founded with the aim of setting up a holiday house and support centre for children with life threatening illnesses and their families.
Joshua’s parents, Lynda and David Hill, set up the charity after experiencing at first hand the difficulties faced by the whole family after Joshua was diagnosed with leukaemia in September 2004. Because of josh’s frequently suppressed level of immunity, he is often limited as to where he is able to go; this is why the Joshua Tree was born. The centre is intended to be self-contained with recreation facilities available so that travelling off site isn’t necessary. The facility is intended to house four families, allowing time for sharing but also enabling privacy when necessary.
Josh’s parents have been overwhelmed by everyone’s generosity and the main focus of the fund raising at the moment is for the purchase of land for the building of the holiday house. A plot of land in a beautiful location in Sandiway has been identified and the charity is aiming towards £75,000 to make the purchase a reality.
Shane Pugh, Front Room musician and PROjEN new business development manager, said “we are all extremely pleased by the total amount raised so far, but also at the fact that donations are still being received. In December 2006, we decided that we wanted to support a local charity not quite realising how much pace it would all gather and I would like to personally thank all the individuals and companies who have helped with this fundraising.”
