December 2007 pride winner is a another joint award

The voting for the latest PROjEN PRIDE Award was a very close run affair as always, and there were two deserving winners again this quarter. The latest PRIDE Award has been awarded to Katie Abrahams and Donna Donaldson, both outstanding members of the PROjEN team.

Intended to encourage team working and company involvement, the PROjEN PRIDE Award is open to all members of the PROjEN team and is presented quarterly at the core brief sessions with each ‘winner’ receiving £250 in M&S vouchers. The award has already proved instrumental in encouraging pride in the workplace and rewards good attitude and commitment to both client and company. All employees are aware of the positive impact a PRIDE attitude brings to PROjEN.

This is the ninth quarterly pride award and Katie and Donna join a growing list of extremely popular and hard working employees who have won the award and which includes both site and office based personnel.

Chris Richardson said on behalf of the management team at GSK of Katie “Katie has worked exceptionally hard this year in support of Process Projects and her efforts have been invaluable in helping GSK Capital Projects to (again) meet our targets. More importantly, Katie has taken on a wider role supporting both PROjEN and GSK in more complex issues around SOPs, training, Rollcall etc. Her success in this wider role is mainly due to her ability and willingness to identify and take on problems as they arise, rather than when asked to do so. This means that issues are dealt with early and, if there are situations which require escalation, these in turn are captured early before becoming unmanageable. All this whilst performing her day job and building up an effective administrative team as well.

Well done from all the GSK Managers in Process Projects!”

Whilst Russ Harvey said “Katie has proven to be a great asset to the Capital Projects team and on many occasions has been the glue that has kept it together.

She allows the rest of the project team to focus on the project details, confident in the knowledge that all other support issues have been addressed or will be brought to their attention in time.

She is both friendly and approachable but will ‘put her foot down’ when the situation demands – despite the run-around she can get from some! I fully endorse her nomination for this award”

Peter Strang, on behalf of Greenergy Biofuels Ltd said of Donna’s outstanding work ethic and attention to detail “Greenergy would like to thank Donna for her highly efficient, but understated work on our behalf in Immingham. In particular we would like to recognise her efforts and time she has put in taming the Italians, in getting information from them when most others would have given up! Our thanks and congratulations to you”.

By epitomizing all that the PROjEN PRIDE Award stands for – PROjEN Recognition for Industry Diligence and Enthusiasm – Katie and Donna’s attitude to work is an example to all to ensure PROjEN moves forward and continues to build on the success enjoyed by the company particularly during the last five years of company growth.

PROjEN announce employee Carbon Trust Accreditation

PM PROjEN, the award winning Project Management Company based in Northwich, Cheshire, has just announced that Tony Baldwin has been accepted under the Carbon Trust Accreditation Scheme as one of their Accredited Consultants

Following a thorough application and interview process, Tony has been accepted to undertake Opportunity Identification and Solution Development activities for the Carbon Trust. This will allow Tony to undertake Carbon Trust work as a PROjEN employee in both new and existing market sectors.

PROjEN has been involved in a number of prestigious energy reduction and energy conservation projects for its existing customer base over recent years. Tony’s Accredited Consultant status will assist PROjEN to enhance its range of energy related services.

PROjEN is one of a very small group of project management companies who have developed a specialist division to focus on the design and implementation of industrial energy management projects. The current market is very well served with organisations that can identify energy management issues, and in many cases, can also suggest courses of action. However, very few companies are then able to take a major industrial project from its early project specification and design stages all the way through to the final implementation stages.

PROjEN are able to provide this complete solution as a result of combining knowledge of current environmental legislation with 30 years experience of delivering major projects for some of the UK’s leading food, pharmaceutical and manufacturing companies.

The Carbon Trust is the Government funded body who provide advice and guidance to the UK to move to a low carbon economy by helping business and the public sector reduce carbon emissions now and capture the commercial opportunities of low carbon technologies.

Tony Baldwin, PROjEN Energy Engineer said: “The Carbon Trust’s accreditation will allow PROjEN’s Energy, Environmental and Compliance Team to meet its own accreditation requirements for Carbon Management and Energy Efficiency (CMEE) status; I am pleased to be part of this service on behalf of the Carbon Trust’s carbon reduction initiatives in the UK.”

John Taylor, Managing Director said “This is fantastic news for Tony and PROjEN and links in perfectly with our business strategy of providing project management services with an environmental edge. Our clients are becoming more concerned about their carbon footprint, energy cost implications and the future impact of environmental legislation. This accreditation will enable us to provide a complete project management service with the latest environmental support”.

PROjEN will be launching a specialist energy management website in the New Year to market and support the expanding range of energy management services.

The Carbon Trust has recognised the skills and experience of the in-house team at PROjEN to offer support and advice in providing Carbon Management and Energy Efficiency, (CMEE), solutions to key UK commercial and industrial operators in awarding this prestigious accreditation

This accreditation will allow PROjEN to enhance its range of energy related services by identifying and implementing carbon reduction and energy efficiency projects on behalf of the Carbon Trust and their clients.

The Energy, Environment and Compliance Team will be responsible for providing and managing these services, and are responsible for ensuring that all projects delivered by PROjEN have energy efficiency and environmental sustainability as an integral part of the design and engineering process.

The team also have experience in the identification and implementation of new technologies, for example the Organic Rankine Cycle engine, which offers the opportunity to utilise waste energy streams to generate both electricity and hot water.

John Taylor, PROjEN Managing Director said: “There is a distinct shortage of service providers that can both identify and implement the necessary engineering solutions for many energy users in the UK. This is an excellent opportunity to bring PROjEN’s vast experience and project delivery skills to the arena of energy and carbon reduction. This valuable service will help our clients to realise both internal and UK wide energy and emission targets, as well helping them to reap the benefits of reduced energy spends.“

The Carbon Trust is the Government funded body who provide advice and guidance to the UK to move to a low carbon economy by helping business and the public sector reduce carbon emissions now and capture the commercial opportunities of low carbon technologies.

Carbon Management Energy Efficiency support is a product offered by the Carbon Trust to UK clients that have energy spend in excess of £1 million either on a single site or across multiple sites.

The Carbon Trust supports the reduction of energy/carbon emissions by part funding the identification and implementation of suitable technology and/or processes. This then allows the UK commitment to a reduction in carbon emissions and greenhouse gases to be realised.

PROjEN will be launching a specialist energy management website in the New Year to market and support the expanding range of energy management services.
