Introduction

PROjEN have been providing professional Project management and Engineering Services to GSK since 2002 and have been involved in the design and delivery of hundreds of capital projects.

The Project Scope

PROjEN have had a dedicated site based team at GSK’s Stevenage site providing multi-disciplined Engineering Design and Project Management services on projects ranging from small consultancy assignments through to significantly sized projects (including a large refrigeration (R22) replacement project, (ECI Project of the Year 2004). PROjEN have also carried out a number of projects at other GSK sites including Tonbridge, Coleford, Maidenhead, Harlow, Montrose, Beckenham, Irvine, Ware and Slough.

One of the key success criteria has been the establishment of site based core teams, who are made up from a mixed discipline of skills ranging from Project management, Project Engineers, Construction Managers, Design Engineers, Commissioning/Validation, Planning and Commercial Support.

The Challenges

Key to our ongoing relationship has been the adoption of a stage gate process for executing projects in line with GSK’s systems and processes. The mix of the team is constantly reviewed as part of the flexible managed service and varies year on year depending on the quantity and complexity of the workload, in addition top-up resource from the head office is engaged on specific assignments.

Outcome

PROjEN have successfully completed hundreds of projects over the years and in doing so have won some awards. We were awarded the ECI Contractor of the Year 2003 for project delivery work at GSK and the ECI Project of the Year 2004 for the R22 project.
