PROjEN are RoSPA Occupational Health & Safety Award Winners 2008

PM PROjEN, the award winning Project Management Company based at Northwich, Cheshire, has just won another of the prestigious RoSPA Occupational Health & Safety Awards for 2008.

The Gold Medal Award was presented at a ceremony at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel, National Exhibition Centre on 13th May 2008 alongside the Safety & Health Expo 2008, the UK’s premier health and safety at work exhibition and is the seventh consecutive time that PROjEN has won a RoSPA award

The RoSPA awards are not just about reducing the number of accidents and cases of ill health at work; they help to ensure that organisations have good health and safety management systems in place. Entering the awards scheme reinforces the message that good health and safety is good business and clearly demonstrates an organisation’s dedication to the achievement of high levels of performance in this crucial area.

PROjEN scooped the award following the company’s outstanding health and safety record during the calendar year of 2007 when PROjEN recorded an outstanding 204,271 of hours worked by PROjEN personnel without a single health and safety incident occurring. To put this into context based on a 35 hour working week, 48 weeks of the year, this equates to a single engineer working for almost 122 years without an incident. This is twice as many hours worked by PROjEN personnel as the previous year and four times as many hours as any of the 3 years before that.

In addition to these figures, contractors employed directly by PROjEN recorded 229,356 of hours worked without a single health and safety incident occurring which is eight times more hours than any of the last 4 years. Combining these two sets of statistics is equivalent to a single person working for 258 years without an incident.

David Rawlins, RoSPA Awards Manager, said “PROjEN has demonstrated how seriously they take health and safety management and are a fine example to many other companies. We would like to see more organisations following their lead.”

The RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards 2008 were sponsored by NEBOSH (The National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health), the leading health and safety professional examining body.

The President of RoSPA, Baroness Anne Gibson of Market Rason, Deputy President, Lord Jordan of Bournville, and vice-president, Lord Broughham & Vaux hosted the Gala dinners on May 13-15 for representatives of award winning organisations at the Hilton hotel.

John Taylor, Managing Director said “To win a RoSPA Gold Award once is a very special achievement but to win it for seven consecutive years makes us extremely proud. We have been fortunate to secure a number of awards over recent times but the RoSPA award clearly demonstrates how hard the team has worked in maintaining a consistent and successful approach to health and safety. We are constantly reviewing our procedures to avoid any complacency and I would like to think that we will be in a strong position to be recognised again next year”
