PROjEN Ltd celebrate winning ECI Project of the Year 2013

PM PROjEN, a specialist engineering project Management Company, based in Preston Brook, Cheshire is pleased to announce that they have been awarded the European Construction Institute Project of the Year 2013 following the successful completion of a key project at Cabot Carbon Limited.

PROjEN have had a long working relationship with Cabot that stretches over 6 years and includes work across a number of sites in the UK as well as the Cabot Italiana plant in Ravenna, Italy. PROjEN were selected as the EPC contractor for Cabot Carbon’s Fumed Silica Expansion project at Barry, South Wales via a competitive selection process because of the professional and structured approach they bring to design and project management.

The project at Barry has increased the Company’s Fumed Silica production capacity by 25% and the expansion is part of a three year plan to enhance Cabot’s global fumed metal oxide capacity by 35 to 40%. The project has been a huge success and a major contributor to this has been the collaborative way in which all the stakeholders worked together to achieve common goals and objectives. In addition PROjEN’s specific use of the ECI’s ACTIVE (Achieving Competitiveness Through Value Enhancing) Principles were also cited as reasons behind PROjEN’s nomination and subsequent award winning achievement.

The award was presented at the ECI Gala dinner which was held on Thursday 13th June at Heathrow Marriott Hotel, London Heathrow. PROjEN’s Managing Director Martin Seabrook and Head of Projects Simon Forshaw attended the Gala dinner and collected the award on behalf of PROjEN. Simon also presented a paper at the ECI Annual Conference on the 14th June on the ‘Reasons for Success by following the ACTIVE Principles’. PROjEN’s Managing Director Martin Seabrook comments:

“It is a great honour to win this award and is testimony to the efforts and hard work of PROjEN’s employees to maintain our exceptional health and safety record and professional culture and approach – as true followers of the ECI’s Eight ACTIVE Principles.

PROjEN’s key business driver is working with clients who share our business culture and Cabot’s willingness to endorse a true teamwork approach on this project has promoted the innovation and ownership that is needed to deliver this project”.
